A morning filled with individual and group instruction, support, and exploration left skaters feeling empowered and ready to grow as humans first, skaters second. Thank you to Cameron Claire, Garrett Kling, and the amazing skaters who helped create an incredible on and off ice experience!

Rochester’s annual Hiawathaland competition was a success for our SMSC skaters: 3 first place medals, a second, third, fourth, and fifth place placement, 2 National Showcase qualifications, and 3 Personal Best Freeskate scores! 🥳

Cecelia had a great skate at the 2025 Maplewood Fall Classic skating competition, earning a second place medal AND test credit, allowing her to pass her Silver Singles (Novice Free Skate)! 🤩

Training for a test takes time and determination, entering a competition takes courage and tenacity, and we’ve watched Cece exhibit all of the above as she prepared for this event and achieved her goals. ⭐️ Way to go Cecelia! 🥳

In addition to SMSC, Cecelia also skates with the Rochester Figure Skating Club.

Southern Minnesota Skating Club takes great pride in our coaching staff. The development and success of our organization is a direct result of all that our coaches do for our skating community.

Coach Belle joined SMSC when it was barely more than an idea. Since then, she has served as creative director for our annual ice show, choreographed countless numbers for groups and individuals, introduced our skaters to theatre and dance on ice, and inspired skaters to explore movement in new ways. She helped skaters land SMSC’s first Axel and pass our club’s first USFS test. Belle regularly fosters a genuine excitement for the ice in skaters of all ages and all skill levels. 😍 This next week, Coach Belle begins a new adventure in Wisconsin. We are thrilled to cheer her on from southern Minnesota as she continues to pursue her passions, and we look forward to welcoming her back for future SMSC events.

Thank you, Belle, for all that you have done for SMSC and our skating friends. We are so grateful for you! 🩵💚
